AMPHITHEATRE MAWSMAI NONGTHYMMAI ECO-PARK

The Mawsmai-Nongthymmai Eco-Tourism Cooperative Society, Ltd, Mawsmai, is situated in Sohra (previously known as Cherrapunjee), a Sub-Division in the East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya, is set upon a plateau on the southern slopes of the state. Sohra is dotted with waterfalls cascading over deep gorges. The swift flowing rivers and streams flow in a southernly direction to the plains. One of those ultimate eco-friendly destinations and set against the backdrop of breath-taking landscape, it is a place to discover the Indian summer monsoons. A unique annual meteorological phenomena directly influenced by the south west monsoon and the north east winds. The heavy monsoon rains over these mountains undoubtedly creates Sohra one of the rarest bio-diverse vegetations in the world.

The Mawsmai-Nongthymmai Eco-Tourism Cooperative Society, Ltd, Mawsmai has ventured into another activity of promoting Rural Tourism by providing an AMPHITHEATRE in its own Headquarter which will focus the promotion of the existing art and culture of the Indigenous tribal people of the State. Located only about 56 kms from Shillong City in the heart of the Sub-Division and a popular Tourist destination for the National and International Tourist coming to the State.
